Describe (in a short paragraph) a significant breakthrough in your development as a writer: As a bad writer, a major breakthrough was finding out that good writing has a lot more to do with just having good ideas and saying them clearly, rather than with thinking through the kind of pre-packaged styles of phrasing we typically associate with "good writing."
