Your name: Ekaterina Koposova
Your home town: Saint Petersburg, Russia
Your major(s): Art History
Are you fluent in any language(s) other than English?
French and Russian
What are your career plans?
Graduate study in art history, museum work, eventually an academic career
What is your favorite book or author and why?
Michail Bulgakov’s Master and Margarita is my favorite book because like no other work, it reflects the complex history of twentieth century Russia and reminds of a world, which is only partly gone, and a dark historical legacy that looms over anyone who was born and lived in Russia.
What is your favorite word?
Excellent – more attainable than “perfection,” excellency reflects the ultimate goal we strive for and the greatest reward for it — to hear that we have achieved it.
Describe (in a short paragraph) a significant breakthrough in your development as a writer: It came during the spring semester of my third year in college. I have always been a good writer, but the third year is when I think I have reached a whole new level in the art of composing and writing papers. I think it was the result of many years’ work. Suddenly, writing papers began to feel natural. And with this newly acquired ease, came the confidence that made writing an even greater pleasure than before.
