What are your career plans? I'm still deciding what I will do in the meantime, but hopefully one day I will become a novelist.
What is your favorite book or author and why? I think my favorite book would have to be Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. The language and story are beautiful. I read it at a young age, and Elizabeth Bennet's spirit and strength really impacted me.
What is your favorite word? Iridescent! The sound and meaning are so lovely.
Describe (in a short paragraph) a significant breakthrough in your development as a writer: First semester of my first year at Emory, I took Intro to Fiction Writing, where I would have to read my work aloud in front of the class. I have always loved to write; however, fearing their criticism, I avoided seeking revision assistance from my peers. The thought of presenting my work terrified me, but everyone in my class was so kind and helpful. Their advice was in support of my work instead of against it. I ended up with much higher quality writing and now actively seek out the opinion of others throughout the writing process.
