Describe a significant breakthrough in your development as a writer: I have loved writing for as long as I can remember; and for as long as I have loved writing, I have felt uncomfortable with the idea of other people reading my work. In second grade, I learned the importance of allowing others to review my writing and provide constructive criticism. That year, I aksed my mom to look over a book report that I had written for school. Whenever she commented on the report, I felt like she was attacking me as a writer. Noticing that I had started crying, my mom sat me down to talk about the importance of accepting constructive criticism. She taught me that it is important to show others my work and listen to their advice in order to grow as a writer.
